The $80,000 eating center, expected to open around the first of the year, is designed to offer fast-food carry-out service or allow patrons to eat in the dining area which has a seating capacity for 60 persons, according to R. L. Danner, president of the firm. The new Mr. D's Restaurant is Danner Foods' second establishment in Murfreesboro.

The firm's initial venture in the market was Shoney's Big Boy Restaurant which opened three years ago on the corner adjacent to the new Mr. D's site. Mr. D's will be styled in the Cape Cod tradition. This eating center, designed by Nashville architect Howard Phillip Rowland, will be trimmed with various nautical elements to accentuate the sea theme.

Danner Foods, Inc. presently operates a Mr. D's center in the Nashville suburb of Donelson, and recently announced that 13 outlets are to be constructed in Atlanta over the next six years. Several additional Mr. locations throughout the Southeast are being negotiated for at the present time.

In addition to creating the Mr. D's concept, Danner Foods hold the franchises for 14 Shoney's Big Boy Restaurants in Middle Tennessee and 10 Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets in Kentucky, The firm recently acquired the Seafarer Restaurant in Huntsville, a Cantonese and seafood restaurant, from which they plan to build and operate similar units in several other markets.
