Janet L. Richards; daughters, Peggy (Greg) Maples, Murfreesboro, TN and April Richards, Nashville, TN; son Adam (Chevon) Richards, Houston, TX; 4 grandchildren Adam, Janet and Julie Smith and Gavon Richards. Mr. Richards was a caring and loving father, husband, grandfather and friend. Mr.

Richards served bravely in the US Army during the Vietnam War earning a Purple Heart, Silver Star and many other medals and citations. Mr. Richards dedicated his life to serving the Veterans of Rutherford County, suppling both nancial and emotional support where and when needed, putting their needs ahead of his own. Memorial service will be held 7:00 pm Saturday June 17, 2017 at Fellowship United Methodist Church, 2511 New Salem Murfreesboro, TN with visitation from 5:00 pm until service time. RICHARDS Murfreesboro, TN Wayne Eugene Leonard, age 66, passed away June 13, 2017 at St Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was a native of Davidson County and a resident of Rutherford County. Wayne served in the United States Army National Guard and attended the House of Faith Church. Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Leonard. He is survived by his mother, Juanita Basford Leonard; wife, Teresa Leonard; sons, Daniel (Tasha) Ivy, Damon (Kara) Ivy; brothers, Mickey Carl Farmer, Joe Michael Farmer, Marty Farmer; sisters, Sharon Davis, Patsy Billing, Darlene Todd, Sarita Christy, Cindy Pool, Regina Stone; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation with the family will be PM, Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home. Chapel service will be 1:00 PM, Friday, June 16, 2017 at Jennings and Ayers with Pastor Ronnie Simmons. Burial will follow in Thyatira Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. WAYNE LEONARD Murfreesboro, TN Joyce Marillyn Benedict of Murfreesboro, age 87, passed away June 13, 2017 at Saint Thomas Hospital of Murfreesboro. She was a native of St. Johns, Michigan and was the daughter of Wilbur Sievert and Lilian Dobson Sievert. A lifelong homemaker, mother to six children, and military spouse, Joyce travelled the world with her husband of 66 years, Colonel William Benedict.

She was quick to adapt to every situation and learned to be uent in Hindi while in India; and Korean while in the Republic of Korea, and of course English where on occasion she might have corrected your grammar once or twice if you were close enough to be considered family. She also became an exceptional cook of Indian, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese cuisines. When the family was stationed in Hawaii she became a certi- ed Hula Instructor and a Master Ikebanist (Japanese Flower Arrangement). When stationed in Saudi Arabia Joyce put to use her creative administrative skills while serving as the ce manager for a French surgical supply company. Joyce Benedict was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and active in numerous organizations, most prominently the Optimistic Garden Club where she won numerous awards for design and horticulture.

In addition she was a member of Toastmasters, Rutherford County Republicans, and Retired Military cers Association. She was a woman of many accomplishments with numerous hobbies to include gardening, sewing, hand crafting clay pottery, and of course ower arranging. She will be greatly missed by family and all who knew her. Joyce Benedict is preceded in death by her husband, Colonel William Benedict and brother, Reo Sievert and nephew Brian Sievert. She is survived by her sister-in- law, Mary Sievert of Michigan and by her brother-in- law, Gerald Benedict, of Idaho; sons and daughters-inlaw: Bruce Benedict of Spokane, WA, Bill and Kathy Benedict of Sequim, WA; Rex and Michelle Benedict of Melbourne, FL; Mark and Sallie Benedict of Murfreesboro, Leith and Pam Benedict of Huntsville, AL.

She is also survived by daughter Mary Benedict Thompson and her husband Randy of Murfreesboro. Joyce also leaves eleven grandchildren: Aimee Koshlap, Heather Oines, Sarah Fuoco, Ben Benedict, Ruth Prather, Tim Benedict, Megan Benedict, Will Benedict, Jamie Salas, Thomas Maland, Eric Maland, and six great-grandsons and ten great-granddaughters in addition to nieces Ann (Eldon) Whitford and Kay (Dave) Aughton and niece-in-law Pam Sievert. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 PM Friday, June 16th at Wood Memorial Chapel with memorial service Saturday, June 17th at 4 PM also at Wood Memorial Chapel ciated by Rev. Brandon Eggar. Interment will be in St.

Johns, Michigan at a later date. In lieu of owers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Building Program, Murfreesboro, TN, or Greenhouse Ministries in memory of Joyce M. Benedict. He was born in Murfreesboro, TN to the late Chester Leon Jones, Sr. and Margaret Josephine Smithia Jones. Mr. Jones worked for Bridgestone for over 40 years and was a liated with the Church of Christ. Mr.

-A Tennessee church deacon and Sunday school teacher who allegedly used a smartphone app to entice a child into sex has been indicted. The Kingsport Times- News reported 55-year- old Mark Curtis Adams was indicted Tuesday on two counts of production of child pornography and enticing a minor to en- gage in sexual activity. Adams allegedly used the app Kik in Feb. and March to entice a child into sex and acquire explicit photos of the juvenile. Adams served as a deacon and youth Sunday school teacher at Mount Oak Grove Baptist Church.

The church said in a statement Tuesday that there is no indication that the alleged victims were church members. Mom, boyfriend charged for harnessing boy EVENSVILLE, Tenn. Amother and her boyfriend have been arrested after authorities said the couple harnessed her developmentally challenged boy to the floor of alocked room. News outlets reported 39-year-old Monica Hall and 42-year-old Dennis Couch were charged Monday with multiple offenses, including ag- gravated child neglect. A family member or friend alerted authorities to the condition of the 5-year- old boy.

Rhea County Office investigator Rocky Potter said the harness was fashioned from a dog harness, belt and some electrical tape. Two deputies from same office charged with assault MEMPHIS- Authorities said two deputies from the same office in Tennessee face discipline after being arrested for having domestic disputes with their wives. The Shelby County Office said Tuesday that Patrol Deputy Terrell Turnage has been relieved of duty without pay after he was charged with aggravated assault-domestic violence. According to media reports, an affidavit shows Turnage got into a fight with his wife when he became upset over a call she made. The office said Deputy Mark Laub was charged with simple assault Saturday after a domestic violence incident with his wife.
