The prawling Memphis Regional Megasite is still in search of its first tenant after a Chinese tiremaker decided instead to build its first plant in Georgia. Sentury Tire Americas announced it will spend 530million on the plant about 60 miles northeast Atlanta and create ore than 1,000 jobs once i is complete. The Jackson Sun reported the Tennessee site was one of two finalists for the plant. The plant would have taken up about 560 acres of the 4,100 acres. Haywood County Mayor Franklin Smith expressed disappointment i decision to go to LaGrange, Georgia.
